OPTIMUS SVEA - The Climber's Cooktop - is an ultra-classic lightweight boiler in chemically pure gasoline brass. Even though Svea has been around for a century, it still sets its own standard for compact cooking equipment. We doubt that any other kitchen has been subjected to so many tests in real-world situations as Optimus Svea. Widely used by climbers all over the world and renowned for its high-reliability, Svea is ideal for single-use, high altitude or whenever small pack volume and low weight are prioritized. The kitchen lid also serves as a small cookware.
Our thoughts:
The Optimus Svea 123 was my first "lightweight" stove that I bought back in the early 2000's. I bought it used from ebay here in Sweden, when I say used, I mean this was built in the 60's and used just about every season since. It still works perfectly, and I still have it today and use it from time to time. The optimus svea is not the lightest, easiest to use, hottest or most effective. But it is a joy to use and I belive it should be in every backpackers arsenal regardless of your intention. There is no funner stove ever built.
