With the Wapta 30, we are proud to introduce the first ultralight backpack made with ALUULA fabrics. ALUULA has developed a proprietary process that solves the long-standing problem of attaching a durable, waterproof film to extremely strong UHMWPE fibers. The result is ALUULA Graflyte™, the first backpack composite material with a 100% UHMWPE woven face layer, which offers lower weight while maintaining outstanding durability. The version we use here weighs only 98 g/m² (2.9 oz/yd) and offers higher abrasion and tear resistance than any comparable material - making an ALUULA backpack both lighter and stronger.

ALUULA Graflyte™ also has many other benefits, including long-lasting waterproofness, as their proprietary fusion technology avoids adhesives (which add weight and can weaken over time). ALUULA Graflyte™ is also stain resistant, UV resistant, fully recyclable, has low water absorption, is stable at edges and can be heat bonded.

With Wapta 30, we take advantage of these properties to create a lighter, simpler and more functional backpack. For example, we heat-weld airmesh strips to the back panel for ventilation and use the material's edge stability to laser-cut drainage holes in the pockets and laser-cut the tougher ALUULA Durlyte™ into daisy chains that are lighter than traditional straps.

FEATURES

The Wapta 30 has a thoughtful design that provides easy access to your gear while improving durability, versatility and simplicity.

One of the most unique features of the Wapta is the lower pocket, which provides quick access to larger items like mittens and hats. It also solves a common problem with previous bottom pockets: the use of low-durability stretch mesh in this high-stress area of the backpack. Instead of stretch mesh, Wapta uses pleats (pleats) to create the first bottom pocket without the weaknesses of stretch mesh. The same principle applies to the front pocket, which is generously sized and made of ALUULA to be more durable and at the same time lighter.

Although the Wapta is a super lightweight backpack, it still has important features such as hip belt pockets and side pockets for water bottles. The hip belt pockets are large and designed for easy one-handed use, while the side pockets have adjustable tension and a low-cut front edge for easy access. There are also dual pockets on the shoulder straps that are perfect for phones, bear spray and small water bottles.

The side compression and top strap help make the backpack simpler, lighter and more functional. The side compression uses dual straps that open, close and tighten with a single buckle. The laser-cut ALUULA Durlyte™ daisy chains make this area highly customizable and allow for a variety of storage and compression options, including attachments for ice axes and trekking poles. The top strap is V-shaped to better secure items on top and uses the same double adjustment buckle, making it faster to use than traditional V-top straps.

COMFORT

Although Wapta is a frameless backpack for lighter packs, there's a big emphasis on comfort, with our most advanced design yet.

This includes S-shaped shoulder straps, similar to those on our larger Kakwa backpacks. This shape has become very popular and fits most people better than straighter straps. The shoulder straps also have a differential cut that naturally follows the curve of the shoulders and are equipped with laser-cut daisy chains that provide a wide range of up and down adjustments for the chest strap.

Most backpacks in this category lack a hip belt or use a minimalist strap, while the Wapta has a sturdy padded hip belt that is three-dimensionally shaped to encircle the hips. The hip belt is also removable for those times when you want to pack even lighter.

Above all, the back ventilation is unrivaled in this weight class. The Wapta has double air mesh strips that are heat bonded to the back panel to provide both padding, a more comfortable feel and better ventilation.


In summary, the Wapta 30 takes ultralight backpacks to a new level. No other backpack near 450 grams offers the same combination of functionality, durability, ease of use and comfort. Wapta is the perfect backpack for adventures like a day hike up Kebnekajske or a long distance hike along Sarek.
