Junction is HMG's most versatile backpack - created for hikers who move between forest, mountain and open terrain.
Like Windrider and Southwest, it represents HMG's vision of a lightweight, durable and fully waterproof backpack that works equally well for long hikes and demanding weekend trips.

Since its launch over seven years ago, countless backpackers have taken their Junction through every imaginable environment. The new generation builds on that experience - now with even better materials, comfort and durability.

New material: Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9

Junction is now made from fully woven Dyneema® 200D - a much stronger but equally lightweight material as previous generations.
The new Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9 combines the weight of the older Hybrid 3.8 fabric with a durability that surpasses even the heavier Hybrid 5.9.
The result is a waterproof, flexible and extremely durable fabric that can handle sharp rocks, branches and harsh weather - without feeling stiff or bulky in the cold.

Designed to balance protection and ventilation

Junction has two fixed fabric pockets on the sides to protect your gear from wear and tear, and a central mesh pocket for quick access, visibility and drying of wet garments or tents.
This design makes the Junction the perfect compromise between the Windrider's ventilated pockets and Southwest's protected fabric pockets.

Comfort and carrying system

• The shoulder straps have a new, more ergonomic shape that follows the neck and shoulders naturally, providing better comfort for long days.

• The back panel has a sewn-in construction that molds to the body and keeps the padding in place.

• A 1/4" foam padded back plate provides cushioning and support, while two removable, shaped aluminum stays distribute weight efficiently for heavier loads.

• The hip belt consists of double density foam (closed cell + spacer mesh) for stability and ventilation.

• Two Dyneema® Hardline pockets on the hip belt provide easy-access storage, with durable YKK #5 zippers.

Smart features and flexibility

• Roll-top closure with vertical compression straps keeps the load compact, stable and weather protected.

• Top Y-strap for extra compression or attachment of equipment on top of the bag.

• Removable side compression straps with opposing buckles make it easy to attach tents, poles or other equipment.

• Daisy chains on the outside provide additional attachment points.

• Hydration system with easy suspension and new position for hose exit (hydroport).

• Possibility to add an internal removable pocket (sold as an accessory).

Weather and wear resistance

All vertical seams are tape-reinforced and HMG has also taped behind sewn-on details to improve watertightness.
The result is a backpack that can withstand heavy rain, wet passages and multi-day hikes without affecting the contents.

How to choose the right backpack size

Your back length, not your body length, determines which size you should choose. Here's how to measure:

1. Tilt your head slightly forward and find the bony bump at the base of your neck - that's your seventh cervical vertebra (C7).

2. Ask someone to measure from that point, along the natural curve of your spine.

3. Put your hands on your hips so that you feel the iliac crest - this is the hard edge just below your ribs.

4. Hold your thumbs back, and have the person measuring stop the tape measure where an imaginary line between your thumbs crosses the spine.

5. The distance between C7 and this point is your back length.

Size guide:

• Small: 38 - 43 cm

• Medium: 43 - 48 cm

• Large: 48 - 53 cm

• Tall: 53 cm+

If you fall between two sizes (e.g. 43 cm, between Small and Medium), we recommend you choose the larger size.
