New material: Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9

The new generation Southwest is built with fully woven Dyneema® 200D, making the backpack more durable than ever before without adding weight.
The material, Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9, combines the weight of the previous Composite Hybrid 3.8 with a durability that surpasses the heavier Hybrid 5.9 fabric.
The result is a lightweight, waterproof and extremely durable fabric that can handle sharp rocks and hard rides - while feeling softer, less flappy and more responsive even in the cold.

Design and comfort

Southwest has a new back panel and shoulder straps, designed to follow the body's natural movements.
The stitched-through construction provides a slight curve that molds to your back, increasing both comfort and durability.
Foam padded back plate and removable aluminum stays provide stability even with heavier loads, and can be removed to save weight.

The hip belt has a dual-density foam that provides both support and comfort during prolonged use, with two zippered pockets in Hardline with Dyneema® fabric for small items, energy or phone.

Improved function and access

• Fixed fabric pockets on the outside provide better protection in rocky and rugged terrain.

• Pockets are deeper, with a lower rear edge for easier access to water bottles and safer storage of equipment like ice axes or poles.

• Roll-top closure with vertical compression straps makes it easy to adjust the volume and keep the load compact, stable and protected from the wet.

• Y-compression strap on top to attach extra equipment such as tents, ropes or sleeping pads.

• Daisy chains and removable side compression straps allow for customization of external packing.

• Hydration system with easy suspension for hydration bladder and relocated hose port (hydroport) for easier access.
