Hyperlite Mountain Gear Windrider 70L - the iconic original backpack, now stronger than ever

The Windrider was HMG's first backpack, launched back in 2009, and has since become an icon among ultralight hikers.
Like the Southwest and Junction, it represents HMG's vision of a versatile, lightweight and reliable backpack that works for almost any adventure.

In the latest version, classic function meets brand new technology. The backpack is now made from fully woven Dyneema® 200D, providing even greater durability while maintaining its weight and 100% waterproof construction.

With three large mesh pockets on the outside, the Windrider offers visibility, ventilation and quick access to gear - perfect for drying wet clothes or keeping track of your pack during long days on the trail.

New material: Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9

The new Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9 material combines the weight of the previous Hybrid 3.8 with a durability that surpasses the heavier Hybrid 5.9.
The Dyneema woven structure provides higher resistance to abrasion and tearing, feels softer against the skin and rustles less in the cold.
The result is a backpack that feels both more durable and more comfortable to use - whatever the climate and terrain.

Comfort and carrying system

• The shoulder straps have a new shape with a natural curve around the neck for added comfort.

• The back panel has a sewn-through construction that provides a slightly curved shape that follows the body.

• Foam padded back plate (1/4") provides cushioning and support.

• Two removable, shaped aluminum bars distribute weight effectively but can be removed for weight savings.

• Double density foamhip belt provides stability and carrying comfort even with heavier loads.

• Two Hardline with Dyneema® fabric pockets on the hip belt provide quick access to small items, with durable YKK #5 zippers.

Smart features

• Roll-top closure with vertical compression straps keeps cargo compact and protected from the weather.

• Y-strap on top to attach extra gear like a tent or sleeping pad.

• Three external mesh pockets for quick access, overview and drying.

• Removable side compression straps with opposing buckles for flexible packing.

• Daisy chains along the outside for extra attachment points.

• Hydration system with easy suspension and relocated exit (hydroport) for better hose routing.

• All vertical seams are tape reinforced for increased water resistance.

Your back length, not your height, determines the size of your backpack:

• Small: 38-43 cm

• Medium: 43-48 cm

• Large: 48-53 cm

• Tall: 53 cm+

If you fall between two sizes (e.g. 43 cm between Small and Medium), choose the larger size for the best fit.
