The pinnacle of Ultralight Tent design

The X-Mid Pro 2 is the pinnacle of ultralight tent design. It combines our maximally weight-efficient and storm-resistant X-Mid geometry with Dyneema® Composite Fabric (DCF) and single-wall design to create a tent that is both incredibly light and incredibly capable. The 2024 version weighs as little as 18.2 oz (515 g), making it the world's lightest two-person tent, while bringing unprecedented storm resistance, simplicity, spaciousness and build quality to the super-ultra-light tent niche.

A spacious tent

Before the X-Mid Pro 2, you had to settle for something cramped, fragile and/or lacking in weather protection if you wanted a 2P tent that weighed a little over 1 pound.

The X-Mid Pro 2 changes that. It offers a spacious interior for two adults with a generous 90-inch floor length, steep end walls to maximize usable length, and best-in-class headroom made possible by the unique geometry of a diagonal ridge and opposing diagonal floor. It fits walkers up to 6'4" (two people) or 7'0" (one person).

Also generous are the twin vestibules of 11.6 square feet each, which are large, tall and smoothly position the main area next to the door instead of blocking it.

Storm-proof

The X-Mid Pro 2 has an excellent ability to withstand storms thanks to the extremely strong Dyneema composite material combined with the high-performance X-Mid shape. The X-Mid is the ideal shape for wind and snow as the geometry gives all panels slopes that are consistent and moderate. There are no horizontal roof panels to catch snow, or vertical side panels to catch wind. The tent sets up stably with only 4 pegs, while top and side panel guy lines can be added along with 8 extra peg points around the base if conditions require it.

More than just survival, the X-Mid Pro 2 keeps you comfortable in tough conditions with its protected set up (keeps the floor dry when set up in the rain), protected entrances (keeps the rain out even when open), dual top vents that minimize condensation and a full rainfly that can extend low to the ground to block rain spray and drafts, but can also be raised for increased ventilation. Competing tents trim away the bottom of the rainfly to save weight, but this leaves you more exposed to draughts and rain spray. The X-Mid Pro 2 further enhances comfort in tough weather with its large internal space and generous vestibules.

User-friendly

The X-Mid Pro retains the ease of use for which X-Mid tents are highly regarded. Unlike most trekking pole tents, the rectangular X-Mid has a simple 4-pole set-up with no obligatory guy lines, no measuring or estimating strange angles and no poles.

Once set up, the intuitive minimalism continues with magnetic door knobs, entrances that aren't blocked by poles, vestibules that place the main area next to the entrance instead of blocking it, a tensioned floor that lies stretched and wrinkle-free, and zippers that can be operated with one hand.

The X-Mid Pro also has a remarkably small pack size due to efficient use of materials, less bulky floor material and the absence of poles that complicate the packing of the tent.

The X-Mid design was created for tough conditions where you need a shelter that works, and this elegant and capable simplicity continues in the X-Mid Pro 1.

Our thoughtful design includes an ultra-lightweight 4-pole set-up, magnetic door buttons for easy one-handed operation, entrances that aren't blocked by poles, large vestibules that place the main area to the side of the entrance instead of blocking it, a tensioned floor that stays stretched and wrinkle-free, one-handed zippers, and dual interior pockets.

Quality

Beyond the high-performance design, the X-Mid Pro has industry-leading quality. It starts with using premium materials like Dyneema and assembling them at the most experienced tent factory in the world for DCF.

We use hot bonding construction to create Dyneema seams that are stronger, look cleaner and retain better strength in extreme temperatures. We also use a proprietary warping process for DCF so the shape is more stable over time and doesn't deform or shrink to create wavy zippers like most other DCF tents. In addition, we use thoughtful design and reinforcements to avoid loading the fabric diagonally (on the 'bias') which increases costs but prevents premature degradation.

Awards:

Gear of the Year- Bikepacking.com

Durston's lofty claims, especially compared to some other great shelters, are surprisingly valid...it proved to be outstanding in its class.

Backpacker Magazine
"Simpler than just about any other trekking-pole tent. It's hard to beat the simple but effective design"

Backpacking Light
""If you want the highest-quality and best-performing ultralight shelter on the market, the X-Mid Pro should top your list."

The trek
"Simply the best tent...an impenetrable bunker, super high quality, easy to setup. We couldn't have been more pleased."

Advantage Alan
"No other tent on the market gives you this much livable area for so little weight....an incredible tent design"

Road Trail Run
"The X-Mid Pro 1 is a head- and foot-room king. The hype is real...the easy setup and interior space exceeded my expectations."

PATENTED GEOMETRY

The X-Mid shape was developed from the first principles of basic geometry to be as weight efficient, simple and functional as possible.

This includes avoiding all the common pitfalls of trekking pole tents, such as a complicated set-up, mandatory guy lines, poles blocking entrances and lack of interior space.

Which floor should I choose?

Compared to our 15D woven floor, we find that the durability is similar for the two flooring options. DCF has the advantage of resisting tearing while the woven floor has the advantage of abrasion, but overall durability is quite similar. Therefore, the decision on which floor to choose depends mostly on cost and weight. The DCF floors have a higher cost but allow for an additional weight savings of about 2 oz/60 g.

In addition to these main considerations, there are some minor considerations. A woven floor has the advantage of packing even smaller and the silicone coating on the bottom can be reapplied in the future if needed, while a DCF floor dries faster and is quieter. Both floors can be repaired with repair tape, but repair tapes for DCF match the material in color and look better.

In summary, we recommend choosing the woven floor for the best value and smallest pack size, or choosing the DCF floor for the absolute lowest weight and faster drying.
