    Enlightened Equipment Revelation 40°F (5°C) Short/Regular

The Enlightened Equipment Revelation 40°F (5°C) Short/regular is our original and most popular quilt. The Revelation Quilt is loved by many long distance hikers for its amazing versatility, thoughtful design and ultra-light weight. On warm nights, the Revelation Quilt acts as an open blanket, and when the temperature drops, you can close the adjustable zipper to 1/4 length to create a foot box. This design allows for a comfortable night's sleep in different temperatures and climates.

The Revelation is a quilt, not a sleeping bag, which means it is intended to be used with a sleeping pad for insulation between you and the ground. With its innovative design, which doesn't have a full-length zipper or built-in hood, it saves weight and space in your pack. A perfect choice for active hikers who value good sleep quality!

    Our reflection:

Some equipment becomes an obvious part of your pack and a standard feature on all your hiking trips, so much so that you almost forget about it. For me, the Enlightened Equipment Revelation Pro Quilt is just that kind of gear. I bought this quilt long before I had Backpackinglight or Sarek Gear, and I haven't thought about it since. It is simply always with me, summer, winter or fall - this is the base of my sleep system. It always works, always keeps me warm and has the perfect weight-to-heat ratio for me. Plus, it's one of the more affordable high-quality quilts on the market.

I simply don't think about this bag anymore, which in my opinion is the best praise you can give a piece of equipment. So much so that I haven't even taken pictures of the bag in use in the wild.

    Weight:

It's hard to complain about the weight of this quilt. A high quality down sleeping bag with an EE temperature of 5 degrees Celsius or 40°F is for me spit on and I get by on this in most Swedish contexts during my summer hikes or late spring, early fall. Considering that, the weight of this quilt is remarkably low: 448 grams for a standard regular.

    Features:

Fully open blanket or buttoned cocoon - you decide. The Revelation Pro is very adjustable and flexible for almost any ride. Certainly I use it mainly as a cocoon strapped and buttoned to my sleeping mat. I guess those are the temperatures I normally hike in. Here in the mountainous regions of northern Sweden, where I spend a lot of time, you can always expect minus degrees - regardless of the season. In other words, it's something you have to be prepared for.

What I really like about this quilt is its comfort and simplicity. I love that I can snap it tightly around my neck when the temperature drops. I use this bag as my winter bag and supplement with a synthetic quilt (38 Fahrenheit bag) on top and my Thermarest xTherm as a sleeping mat. This set up easily takes me down to -29 Celsius with nothing more than just an overall and thick socks on me.

    Warmth

Would say the temperature assessment is pretty accurate. I have had this quilt down to 5 Celsius with just my long johns on and it kept me very warm and cozy (with a warm sleeping pad of course). The only time this quilt fails is when the mat is not up to par with the outside temperature. The sleeping pad is probably the single most important piece of equipment in the quest to stay warm.
