Skalmo Alpha Buff is a versatile and super lightweight buff in Polartec® Alpha, handmade in Umeå. Alpha is one of the most appreciated insulation materials among ultralight outdoor users: it warms incredibly well in relation to the weight, ventilates when you move and feels soft directly against the skin.

The Buffet is designed to be simple, robust and functional - a garment you'll take all year round and use more than you think.

Four thicknesses - same fit, different warmth

The Skalmo Alpha Buff is available in four different thicknesses. You choose the level according to how warm you want it and when of the year you intend to use it. All variants are one size fits all thanks to the slight stretch in the fabric.

• Alpha 60 - for high activity, milder weather or as an extra layer.

• Alpha 90 - all-round thickness for hiking, skiing and everyday use.

• Alpha 120 - when you want plenty of warmth in cold weather.

• Alpha 200 - maximum warmth for really cold days, camp life or stationary breaks.

Regardless of thickness, you get the same soft feel and high warmth-to-weight ratio.

Optimal height for multiple uses

Each buff is sewn to a height of about 45 cm. This makes a big spatial difference compared to shorter models - and is exactly the length we found most functional in the field.

You can use it as:

• warming scarf / neck gaiter

• beanie

• hood/balaclava-like protection

• extra insulation collar in the sleeping bag

• face warmer in wind and cold

It covers your neck, throat and ears well, and you can easily adjust how much you want to open up/ventilate without taking it off.

Weight

Weights vary slightly between items as each buff is hand sewn. Weights given are with a tolerance of ± 5g.

• Alpha 60: about 26 g

• Alpha 90: approx. 35 g

• Alpha 120: approx. 44 g

• Alpha 200: about 54 g
  ± 5 g

How to care for it

• Wash at 30° with similar colors
