Alpha Socks are our super lightweight and incredibly comfortable thermal socks, handmade in Umeå in Polartec® Alpha. The material is a favorite among ultralight outdoor users because it provides an impressive amount of warmth in relation to the weight, while being breathable and feeling soft directly against the skin.

We particularly recommend Skalmo Alpha Socks as extra warming socks in camp, during chilly nights in tents or when you don't want to freeze your feet on cold cabin floors. They are perfect to put on after a long day in trail shoes, when you want to change into something dry, warm and really comfortable.

Warmth where you need it most

The socks are made to provide maximum comfort during rest and low-intensity moments, such as cooking in camp, hanging out in the apse or crawling into your sleeping bag. Polartec Alpha insulates even if there is some moisture left, and dries quickly, making them a safe choice when the weather changes and everything is not always completely dry.

Soft, airy and easy to love

Skalmo Alpha Socks are not meant to be "hard" hiking socks for many miles in shoes, but as that luxurious warmth boost you bring to make evenings, nights and mornings much more pleasant. They are soft enough to wear directly against the skin, easy to pack and so comfortable that you will want to use them well beyond the mountain season.

Skalmo Alpha Socks come in four different thicknesses, so you can choose the level depending on how cold you are, what season you're out in and how much extra warmth you want in camp. All variants are based on the same simple and functional design, but provide different levels of warmth.

The Alpha 60 is suitable for when you want a warm, light and airy thermal layer, or as a flexible alternative on milder nights. These provide a surprising amount of warmth for their weight.

The Alpha 90 is an all-round variant that works perfectly for most tours, where you want clear warmth without getting too hot.

Alpha 120 is for those who want a lot of comfort warmth when the temperature starts to creep down properly.

Alpha 200 is maximum warmth for really cold conditions, or if you want that "sleeping bag luxury" when everything else feels chilly.

Care and maintenance

Wash at 30° with similar colors and preferably on a gentle program. Avoid fabric softener and let them air dry, which is quick thanks to the material's low weight and good ventilation.
