The BeFree filter can withstand about 1000 liters of water purification (more if you clean only clear water and less if you clean turbid water). If the filter is turned off too much turbid water, it is easily cleaned by the so-called "EZ-Clean advantage" ie having water in the bottle and shaking it vigorously.
Alternatively, unscrew the filter and dip it in water and swish it quickly from side to side in the water. Then the debris comes loose and you can continue to clean water again. Note that the filter should never be rinsed horizontally under a tap, it may ruin the filter.
