Soto Windmaster micro regulator stove
Boil 2 cups of water in under 2-1/2 minutes in heavy wind. This well-made burner can handle harsh conditions. The Soto WindMaster stove is designed so that the cooking pot sits close to the flame, making it more efficient in windy weather. Resulting in increased efficiency so that cooking time is faster and gas lasts longer. The concave design of the burner head creates the effect of a built-in windbreak. The 4Flex pot support works for the larger pans, but the smaller, TriFlex pot support is available separately. An efficient burner no matter what size of pan your adventure requires.
Our thoughts I have been using the Soto Windmaster almost exclusively for over 2 years. Through Sarek, Padjelantaleden, Kungsleden, Iceland, Scotland and more. I have never needed a windshield and the Windmaster has never failed me. I have used it with dozens of different pots and pans without fail. Simply put, in my opinion, the Soto windmaster is the best oven on the market for almost all boiling water and simple cooking needs. It is fast, efficient, lightweight and reliable. Even in strong winds it is efficient and fast and rarely loses any of its performance. If there is one thing I find negative, it is that when I bought my Windmaster, the tri-flex was included as well as the 4-flex. However, they have chosen to sell them separately now, which means that if you want the lightest and most compact solution - 3-flex. It must be purchased separately. That said, the 4-flex is an excellent, sturdy pot holder. I just prefer tri-flex.
Size
I'm not so interested in physical diameter and height and so on. Instead, I'm interested if it fits in a saucepan along with the gas. The Soto windmaster fits nicely in almost all pots larger than 600 ml and more (together with gas canisters). That was always what was so convenient about the Jetboil kit - everything fits nicely in one pan. The difference between this and a jetboil is big - the Jetboil is not as good in strong winds, locked to a pan and generally significantly heavier than the Windmaster.
Weight With the included 4-flex pan holder, the Windmaster weighs a total of about 80 grams. Keep in mind this is with a pezo lighter and no need for wind protection. So with all in all, very light!
Performance. This is where the Soto-Windmaster really stands out. For a long time, the Windmaster stood alone at its peak as the best performer on the market. Now it can be argued that the MSR Pocket rocket DLX shares the title. In any case, whether it's cold, windy or sunny: the Windmaster works great. Showing off to my friends on hiking trips, it's not common for me to set up and cook in harsh winds while they're all standing around moving rocks and backpacks and trying to cook their own food - just for the Windmaster to be faster and more efficient. It is truly remarkable. Of course, this also means that a can of gas will last much longer with the Windmaster than pretty much any other kitchen.
Conclusion The Windmaster is my favorite burner. Nothing really compares. There are lighter and smaller stoves - but once you add in the fact that you have to have both a windbreak and a lighter, the Windmaster usually wins the weight war as well. Windmaster is the "Ron Swanson" of stoves. Simple, efficient and very high quality.
