The Copper Spur UL is one of the most acclaimed ultralight tents ever - and for good reason. Since its launch in 2008, it's become a go-to choice for both long-distance hikers and gram hunters who want the highest level of comfort without compromising on weight. The latest version is better than ever, with improved durability, smarter features and a top-quality fabric.
The tent is made with our most durable and advanced fabric technology: HyperBead™, exclusive to Big Agnes.
6% lighter
25% more waterproof
50% stronger than traditional materials - all without adding water-repellent chemicals.
This is a tent built to perform - season after season.
Our test: The Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 immediately impresses with its unique combination of light weight and generous space. For a two-person tent, it's surprisingly light to carry, yet feels roomy and comfortable - especially for those who want extra space on solo trips.
Two large vestibules provide plenty of space for packing, while the clever double-entry design makes tent life easier and more flexible. The new Hyberbead fabric feels both durable and reliable, helping the tent to withstand tough conditions without compromising on weight.
Some say it's a disadvantage that the tent is pitched with the inner first, but in practice it's easy to protect with the outer fabric or use the footprint for Fast Fly pitching. It's far from a dealbreaker - rather proof of a well thought out, flexible design.
If you're looking for a really lightweight, roomy and reliable tent for both solo adventures and trips of two - the Copper Spur HV UL2 is a top choice.
Pros:
Very lightweight for a two-person tent, without compromising on space.
Two large vestibules and double entrances make it convenient and practical.
Durable and reliable Hyberbead fabric, built for many adventures.
Downside:
Width does not allow for two wide sleeping pads. For more space, Copper Spur HV UL2 Bikepack/XL is recommended.

Always make sure the tent is completely dry and free of dirt before packing.
Fold and roll the tent differently each time to avoid permanent creases.
Store in a cool and dry place.
Never leave the tent in hot environments (e.g. trunk or attic) for long periods of time, as this can damage the material's coatings.
If the tent is stored in a damp place, mold can form, which can cause bad odors, leaks or delamination.
Note: Mold damage is not covered by the warranty.
Light cleaning: Use a sponge and lukewarm (not hot) water.
More thorough cleaning - you will need:
Washing tub (or bathtub)
Lukewarm water (not hot)
Cleaner for waterproof equipment (e.g. Nikwax Tech Wash)
Sponge
Step by step:
Place the tent in lukewarm water. Stir gently with your hands. Change the dirty water until most of the dirt is gone and the water is clear.
Apply detergent suitable for waterproof equipment and gently work it into the fabric with a sponge.
Rinse thoroughly.
Hang the tent up to dry.
Check several times that the tent is completely dry before storage or use.
⚠️ Important:
Never dry clean or machine dry - this will destroy the fabric and waterproofing.
Do not use hot water, bleach, liquid detergents or dishwashing detergents.
Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight - UV radiation can degrade waterproofing.
All Big Agnes tents are seam sealed at the time of manufacture. The taped seam is durable enough to prevent leaks. Additional seam sealing with liquid is not needed, unless you want extra protection.
Make sure that any seam sealing is completely dry before packing the tent.
Incorrect application may affect the warranty.
Keep zippers clean to avoid wear on coils and runners.
If zippers are dirty: vacuum or brush clean before storage.
We recommend Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant for maintenance.
All Big Agnes tents are guaranteed against manufacturing and material defects.
The warranty does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear, user modifications, misuse, accidents or use other than intended.
Damage from mishandling or normal wear and tear may in some cases be repaired for a reasonable fee, at the discretion of Big Agnes.
Tents sent in for repair must be clean and free of dirt.
