Six moon designs Lunar Solo for 2021 is newly made of 100% silicone coated polyester material. The tent is 20D material and the floor has been constructed with 40D material for extra strength. The stretch of the outer tent has been reduced and so has the packed volume. Six moon Designs has also made the front line reflective and the guyouts for the corners are now also reflective.

Fall 2020 update: Replaced webbing with cord guy outs for easier adjustment and repair in the field.

Our thoughts

The Six Moon Designs Lunar Solo is one of my favorite Silnylon, Single Wall tents. It's easy to set up, handles high winds and bad weather gallantly, packs down tight and small and most importantly it's big enough for a guy my size (190cm, 90 kilos). I have used the tent on several mountain trips along the Kungsleden in northern Sweden as well as some fishing trips around Borgafjäll. The tent always works just as it should, even in the heaviest winds that reach around 18 m/s.

I usually take the Lunar solo with me when I use a smaller backpack for shorter hikes. It's big enough to keep me happy when I'm in camp, and it takes up little space in my backpack. If there is anything I have a problem with, it would be the zipper at the top of the tent, I can never get the canvas to be completely tight - The tent is always a bit slack right at the zipper under the vent. Not really a big issue, but looks odd

• The previous model was sagging at zipper under top vent but is better now
• Quality - When Six moon released this (many years ago) there were quality concerns - we then had quite a few complaints about it. Over the years these have subsided as Six Moon have improved the tent to what it is today.

About Six moon design Lunar Solo

Six moon design's Lunar Solo has a distinctive low hexagonal shape that handles strong winds from any direction. Short, steeply sloping sides, handle snow or high winds with ease. 122cm headroom, sitting in the center of the tent, maximizes space to sit up in.

The sleeping area is surrounded by a 6-inch deep tub floor. This ensures excellent ventilation while keeping you away from the low tent walls. This keeps you drier on those occasions when condensation forms on the tent fabric.

The flysheet sits on the long side of the tent to maximize views and ventilation when fully open. Close it and you have phenomenal protection from the worst storms.
