Tarptent Double Rainbow DW (double wall)
The Tarptent Double Rainbow DW is a spacious and versatile double-wall tent for two people, featuring separate inner and outer tents. With two doors, two vestibules, and plenty of room for two wide sleeping pads, it’s just as suitable for a couple looking to hike light as it is for those who appreciate extra space on a solo trip.
The inner tent combines mesh with a protective fabric panel at the bottom. This provides better protection against wind and cold drafts, while still maintaining excellent ventilation. The design ensures there’s plenty of space between the inner tent and the outer fly, which reduces the risk of condensation entering the inner tent.
The outer tent is made of durable 20D silpoly, which doesn’t absorb as much water or shrink as much as traditional silnylon when it gets wet. The durable 30D silnylon floor means that a separate footprint is usually not needed.
The tent pitches quickly with six tent stakes and can be set up with the outer tent first—a major advantage when it’s raining. The inner tent can also be left attached to the outer tent for a quick and protected setup. Using two hiking poles, the tent can be set up freestanding, and the poles can also be used as extra reinforcement in strong winds or under heavy snow loads.
Both vestibules can be rolled back completely for maximum views and ventilation. On clear nights, the outer tent can be pushed back for stargazing and quickly pulled back over if the weather changes. The doors can also be set up in a practical porch position, creating a sheltered space outside the tent.
