Tarptent Notch – an ultralight classic for demanding hikes
The Tarptent Notch is one of those tents that has become a true classic among ultralight hikers. With its low weight, double walls, two entrances, and two vestibules, it combines minimalism with excellent weather protection.
The Notch is Tarptent’s lightest double-wall tent made from traditional materials and is designed for hikers who use trekking poles and want to keep weight down without compromising on functionality.
Its slim and aerodynamic shape allows the tent to perform well even in exposed conditions, while its small footprint makes it easier to find a good campsite when space is limited.
Built for Wind and Rain
The outer tent is made of 20D high-tenacity silpoly with a silicone coating and a water column rating of over 5,000 mm. Silpoly absorbs minimal water and retains its shape better in the rain than many traditional silnylon materials.
The floor is made of 30D silicone-coated nylon 6,6 with a water column rating of over 5,000 mm. This provides high durability and means a separate footprint is usually not needed.
PitchLoc™ – More Space with a Smaller Footprint
Tarptent’s patented PitchLoc™ design uses carbon fiber struts at the corners to create more interior space while keeping the tent’s footprint compact. The design also contributes to better stability and ventilation.
The tent sets up quickly with four tent stakes and two trekking poles. The outer tent is pitched first, which keeps the inner tent protected during setup in the rain.
Double-wall tent with two entrances
The Notch has two doors and two vestibules, making it easy to organize your gear and providing good ventilation from both sides.
The tent is available with both a mesh inner tent and a solid inner tent, allowing you to adapt the tent to the climate and intended use.
Note: The outer tent’s seams are not factory-sealed. A seam-sealing kit is included, and we recommend sealing the seams before using the tent in the rain.
