Zpacks Altaplex Classic

Weighs only 380 grams. The Zpacks Altaplex Classic is an ultralight one-person tent designed for long-distance hikers who want maximum comfort without carrying unnecessary weight. With a length of 230 cm, generous headroom, and a single-pole setup, the Altaplex offers one of the most spacious solo tents on the market relative to its weight.

This version is equipped with Lite Floor, which features an outer fabric made of .55 oz/sqyd Dyneema® Composite Fabric and a floor made of .75 oz/sqyd Dyneema® Composite Fabric. The result is an extremely low weight without compromising on weather protection or functionality—perfect for thru-hikes, the Green Belt Trail, and long mountain hikes.

NOTE! The tent requires a trekking pole that can be adjusted to approximately 142–147 cm. If your pole is shorter, you’ll need a Trekking Pole Jack or a separate tent pole. At least six tent stakes are required for setup, and ten are recommended in windy conditions. Pegs are not included.

Note: All seams are factory-taped, and the tent does not need to be seam-sealed.

Spacious for longer hikes

The Altaplex Classic is designed for those who often find standard one-person tents too short or cramped. The high ceiling height of 147 cm makes it easy to sit up, change clothes, and organize your gear, while the 230 cm floor area provides plenty of space even for taller people.

The storm flaps overlap and can be opened or closed independently depending on weather conditions. The design eliminates the need for zippers on the outer doors, which reduces weight and minimizes the risk of wear and tear over time. At the same time, it creates a natural airflow that helps reduce condensation.

The inner tent’s rainbow-shaped door opens easily from both sides and folds inward when opened. You get easy access to the vestibule without having to roll up the door or clip it out of the way.

Protection Against Rain and Condensation

The high tub-style floor is set back from the edge of the outer tent and provides effective protection against rain splashes, ground moisture, and dripping condensation. Thanks to the outer tent’s overhang, a storm flap can often be left open even during light rain for improved ventilation.

The vestibule provides space for a backpack, shoes, and other gear you want to keep protected but outside the sleeping area. An integrated mesh pocket keeps your cell phone, headlamp, glasses, and other small items within easy reach.

Dyneema® Composite Fabric

The Altaplex Classic is made from PFAS-free Dyneema® Composite Fabric—one of the world’s lightest and strongest tent materials. The material is completely waterproof, absorbs virtually no water, and does not stretch when wet. This means the tent stays taut all night and doesn’t get heavier in the rain.
