WanderToes 2.0 combines the stability and durability of a classic hiking boot with the spacious toe box and lightweight feel of a modern trail shoe. The result is a very comfortable hiking boot for those who want their feet to move naturally, even during long days on the trail.
The wide toe box gives your toes room to spread naturally, while the lightweight design and flexible construction provide a significantly more agile feel than traditional hiking boots. The nubuck leather upper is durable, supple, and easy to care for.
Many traditional hiking boots are stable and durable, but at the same time relatively heavy and narrow across the forefoot. WanderToes 2.0 takes a different approach. Here you get a robust construction, but with a significantly roomier toe box and a more flexible feel.
The wide last allows the foot to expand during long days of hiking and gives your toes the freedom to move naturally. For many, this can mean greater comfort, especially after many hours on the trail.
The WanderToes 2.0 lacks a waterproof membrane. Instead, it features a nubuck leather upper with water-repellent properties and sealed seams.
This means the shoe isn’t completely waterproof in the same way as a Gore-Tex boot, but the advantage is better ventilation and a design that’s easier to dry once it gets damp. The leather also molds to the foot over time and becomes softer the more the shoe is worn.
After about six months of use, the WanderToes 2.0 has become a real favorite of ours.
We’ve been using various waterproof trail running shoes and hiking boots for a long time. The problem with shoes featuring a membrane is that they often get hot and damp inside during longer hikes. Once water gets in, they can also take a long time to dry.
That’s why it was interesting to test WanderToes in both the Gore-Tex version and this leather version. For longer hikes, we definitely prefer the leather model. It breathes better, feels more comfortable on the foot, and is easier to keep fresh during longer trips.
The spacious toe box is perhaps the biggest difference compared to a traditional hiking boot. The ability to move and spread your toes makes the shoe very comfortable during long days, while the sturdy construction still provides good protection on rocky and uneven terrain.
Despite its leather construction, the WanderToes 2.0 also feels surprisingly light and responsive. Weighing about 380 grams per shoe, it’s closer to a sturdy trail shoe than a traditional mountain boot.
One minor detail from our long-term test is that the original laces needed to be replaced after about 4–5 months of use. However, an extra pair of laces was included in the box.

The WanderToes 2.0 is a great option for those who want more protection and durability than a standard trail shoe, but don’t want to go back to a heavy, narrow traditional hiking boot. It’s particularly well-suited for longer hikes where comfort, ventilation, and plenty of room for your toes are top priorities.
