A 5-pack lasts for over a year of hiking with normal use. For best results, we recommend replacing the carbon cartridge every three months after first use, or sooner if you notice that taste or odor is starting to return in the filtered water.

How often should I replace the carbon cartridge?

Replace the carbon cartridge approximately every three months after first use. You can also replace it sooner if you notice that the taste or odor returns in the filtered water.

Important in sub-zero temperatures

After the water filter has been used, the hollow fiber filter itself must not freeze. Water remaining in the hollow fibers can freeze and damage the filter. In sub-zero temperatures, the filter should therefore be stored in a warm place, such as inside a sleeping bag at night.
