OUR THOUGHTS: Warm, light, top quality and affordable. That's how I would describe this sleeping bag. I would even say that the Cumulus Panyam 600 is the most affordable sleeping bag on the market. Like all Cumulus bags, the Panyam is high quality and could cost twice as much without surprising me for the standard you get. The comfort temperature is at -6, which I think is spot on.
If the sleeping bag was produced in the US it would have been rated as a -13 sleeping bag as the Americans tend to use borderline values in marketing speak. The Panyam is constructed of high quality 850 cu goose down, which by US standards would be 900 down. It's just a matter of different grading standards.
I have used this sleeping bag on several winter trips and it has really delivered. It keeps me warm down to -6 degrees and with extra layers of clothing it easily holds down to about -15 degrees. The fact that the warranty for this sleeping bag is 10 years is the icing on the cake. You can buy this sleeping bag with Hydrophobic down, but personally I'm not a big fan of it as the performance is limited anyway and the extra weight is simply not worth it.
I would also say that the specification that the bag fits people up to 190 cm is a bit too generous. It would rather be 188 cm. I myself am 190cm tall, weigh 90kg and broad across the shoulders and find it a bit tight for my height and weight.
