STORM RESISTANT
Many ultralight tents are designed primarily for fair weather and therefore compromise on weather protection to save weight. This can mean thinner waterproof coatings, cutting away parts of the outer tent that increase exposure, and missing important features like top vents and extra attachment points.
With X-Mid, we focus on saving weight through smart design - for example, by minimizing the number of seams, using narrow and high-precision taping, and maximizing the volume in relation to the tent's surface. This allows us to create a tent that is both lightweight and able to withstand tough conditions.
The X-Mid excels in severe weather with its outer tent set-up first, full double wall construction, non-sag polyester fabric, large adjustable vents, factory sealed seams, full coverage outer tent (which blocks rain splash and drafts), storm resistant shape, and protected entrances that prevent rain from entering. No other tent can match that combination.
USER-FRIENDLY
Simplicity and ease of use are at the heart of the X-Mid, because the last thing you want after a long day or in bad weather is a tent that's complicated to handle. We avoid unnecessary complexity and improve the user experience through a design based on fundamental principles, combined with meticulous attention to detail and extensive testing in real-world conditions.
Unlike most tents set up with trekking poles, the X-Mid has a rectangular base allowing for a simpler set up with just four ground pegs. There are no mandatory guy lines, no fixed poles to complicate packing and no need to measure pole heights or estimate angles. The tent sets up quickly with just four pegs and two poles that can be adjusted without measuring.
Once up, the user-friendly design continues with large entrances with no blocking poles, vestibules with the main area next to the door instead of in front of it, magnetic door holders, four intuitive storage pockets and zippers that can be operated with one hand.
A particular advantage is that X-Mid uses polyester fabric for the outer tent, which doesn't sag or absorb water like nylon does. This means the tent stays stretched and dries quickly. When we introduced polyester to X-Mid in 2018, it was controversial, but our conviction and advocacy has since led to an industry-wide change.
SPACIOUS
The X-Mid's unique geometry maximizes space by using a diagonal roof ridge that places the two tent poles further apart. At the same time, the design avoids placing the poles close to the edges, improving the tent's wind stability.
The result is a spacious one-man tent with industry-leading headroom. The two poles create generous space throughout the length of the tent, allowing you to sit up anywhere without hitting the ceiling and move easily from a lying to a sitting position.
The floor space is ample with a length of 236 cm (93"), and the steep gables provide enough space for hikers up to 193 cm (6'4"). The floor width is 84 cm (33"), which accommodates even wide sleeping pads. The double vestibules are also generous in size, high and spacious enough to easily store even large backpacks.
QUALITY
In addition to a high-performance design, the X-Mid is also built with uncompromising quality.
The tent is manufactured in what is probably the world's most experienced tent factory, with premium fabrics, double stitching, double hemmed edges and reinforced attachment points through generous bartacking.
This high quality means a higher production cost than for many comparable tents. But thanks to our direct sales model, with only a moderate mark-up, we can offer the X-Mid 1 at an affordable price without compromising on quality.
PATENTED GEOMETRY
The X-Mid's unique shape has been developed from the ground up with geometry in mind to be as weight-optimized, simple and functional as possible.
The design avoids all the common drawbacks of tents pitched with trekking poles, such as cumbersome assembly, mandatory storm lines, poles blocking entrances and limited interior space.

USABLE LENGTH IN THE TENT
To understand the actual length of a tent, you need to consider both the length of the floor and how much the walls slope inwards from ground level.
The X-Mid 1 has a floor length of 236 cm (93"), which is well above average. In addition, the tent's end panels are steep, making the length more useful. How well the tent works for you depends on several factors, such as your height, the thickness of your sleeping pad, the size of your sleeping bag, your expectations and your sleeping style - but generally it works for hikers up to 193 cm (6'4").
FLOOR MATERIAL AND BASE
The tent floor is made of 15D material, which provides a good balance between light weight and durability. We have chosen this material because it is durable enough to be used without additional ground protection, provided care is taken to avoid rough surfaces such as gravel.
Therefore, we believe that a ground cover is not necessary, but it has some advantages - such as a cleaner floor surface, extra safety margin and protection against harder surfaces. We offer an optional ground cover, and about half of the users prefer to use it.
