Description

Article no.: DXM-4031-02S

The X-Mid Pro 1 is the ideal tent for the ultralight backpacker. It combines our maximally weight-efficient X-Mid geometry with Dyneema® composite fabric (DCF) to create one of the most spacious, lightweight, and storm-resistant single-person tents on the market - and yet it weighs under 1 pound (15.7 oz/490 g) with silnylon floor, 450 grams with Dyneema floor

Choose between 15D woven floor or DCF floor.

Tent pegs and footprint are optional.

A spacious tent

The X-Mid Pro 1 is a truly spacious tent with more interior space than any other 1P trekking pole tent. Not only is it spacious in the context of super lightweight tents, it's actually more spacious than almost any 1P tent - at any weight.

The X-Mid Pro 1 accomplishes this with its space-efficient geometry that places the two poles further apart to create 25-50% more interior space than competing tents, including more usable length, headroom and shoulder room.

The floor length is a generous 90 inches, which equates to approximately 228.6 centimeters. This is combined with steep end walls so that the length is still 228.6 centimeters 38.1 centimeters above the ground. The 81.28 cm wide floor area can easily accommodate the widest sleeping pads with plenty of room to spare. You can comfortably sit up along the entire length of the tent, while two people can easily sit together in the tent.

In addition, there are double large vestibules that place the main area alongside the door instead of blocking it. Here you can store your backpack and other equipment.

A design that simplifies and takes up little space

The X-Mid design was created for tough conditions where you need protection that works, and this elegant and capable simplicity continues in the X-Mid Pro 1.

Our thoughtful design includes an ultra-lightweight 4-pin set, magnetic door buttons for easy one-handed operation, entrances that aren't blocked by bars, large ledges that place the main area to the side of the entrance instead of blocking it, a tensioned floor that lies stretched and wrinkle-free, zippers that can be operated with one hand, and dual interior pockets.

The X-Mid Pro 1 also packs smaller than any other 1P DCF tent at just 11.4cm x 25.4cm. Thanks to the lack of poles and stays, it packs short enough to be stored horizontally in your backpack.

More than just a spacious tent, the X-Mid Pro 1 is a robust shelter for tough conditions. It uses ultra-strong DCF material and combines it with the highly regarded X-Mid shape that optimizes wind and snow shedding.

Storm-proof

Unlike other tents close to 0.5 kg, the X-Mid Pro 1 does not trim away the lower part of the rainfly to save weight, but instead has a full-coverage rainfly to block drafts and rain splashes, while also having the ability to be raised higher. Other features found in the X-Mid Pro 1 - but otherwise uncommon at the 1-pound mark - are top vents (important for minimizing condensation) and zippered doors (blocks drafts, increases structural integrity).

The X-Mid Pro 1 also features dual protected entrances that keep the rain out when open, attachments for top and side panel poles, as well as the ability to add up to 12 ground stakes around the base.

Awards:

Backpacker
"Durston's X-Mid Pro 1 just might be the most spacious, lightest-weight tent....It hardly budged in 25 mile-per-hour winds on an exposed alpine ridge.

Backpacking Light
"As close as you can get to a one-size-fits all backcountry shelter. Luxuriously spacious....For a fully-enclosed trekking pole shelter, you can do no better."

Outdoor Gearzine
"Our storm of praise can't stop...This new and wonderful shelter has pushed forward mountain tent design by 100 years."

Road Trail Run
"The X-Mid Pro 1 is a head- and foot-room king. The hype is real...the easy setup and interior space exceeded my expectations."

PATENTED GEOMETRY

The X-Mid shape has been developed from the first principles of basic geometry to be as weight efficient, simple and functional as possible.

This includes avoiding all the common pitfalls of trekking pole tents, such as a complicated setup, mandatory support guy lines, poles blocking the entrances and lack of interior space.

Do I need to have a footprint?

Compared to our 15D woven floor, we find durability is similar for the two floor options. DCF has an advantage in resisting tears while the woven floor has an advantage with abrasion but overall durability is quite similar. As such, the decision on which floor to choose mostly comes down to cost and weight. The DCF floors come at a higher cost but enable an extra weight savings of about 2oz / 60g.

Aside from these main considerations, there are a few smaller considerations. A woven floor has the advantage of packing smaller yet and the silicone coating on the bottom can be re-applied in the future if needed, while a DCF floor dries faster and is quieter. Both floors can be repaired with repair tape, but the repair tapes for DCF are color matched to the material so they look better.

Overall, we recommend choosing the woven floor for the best value and smallest packed size, or choosing the DCF floor for the absolute lowest weight and faster drying.
