Top 5 tents in 2025 - what we see so far

After two years of data collection, the patterns are becoming clear. A total of 88 hikers have now been asked to evaluate their tents, giving us an unusually strong basis for understanding which models actually work out on the trail.

Based on the 2025 responses (≈26 hikers) - combined with previous data - we can now see which tents lead when we weigh together both user numbers and satisfaction.

What does the data say?

The Hilleberg Enan continues to be the most widely trusted tent. It is a safe choice for many and delivers stably over time. The Enan is a lightweight and storm-proof tent weighing only 1200 grams.

The Tarptent Stratospire retains its unique position in terms of user satisfaction. Although it no longer dominates as clearly as in 2024, it is still one of the tents that receives the highest ratings from its users.

The Durston X-Mid stands out as the fastest growing model. In just one year, it has gone from a more niche option to one of the most used tents in our database.

At the same time, we see a clear trend: trekking pole tents are now as common as classic tunnel tents. This shows how quickly preferences are changing in the lightweight segment.

No clear winner - but a clear shift

Perhaps the most interesting thing is not which tent comes out on top.

It's that competition has intensified.

The field is widening, more models are performing at a high level and the gaps between the top contenders are narrowing.

Stratospire may have lost its clear dominance from 2024, but its users are still among the most satisfied in the entire dataset.

Meanwhile, the Durston X-Mid is closing the gap fast - and looks set to become one of the most influential models going forward.
