The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Southwest 55L is a lightweight, durable, and fully waterproof backpack for those who want to move freely on trails, off-trail, and year-round. The Southwest series has been a favorite among long-distance hikers for over 15 years and is designed to handle rugged terrain where gear is subjected to heavy wear and tear.

The new pack body is made from Dyneema® Woven Composite 3.9, an exclusive material that combines low weight with significantly higher tear strength and abrasion resistance than previous generations. The material is also 100% waterproof, which helps keep your gear dry even during long days in the rain.

Unlike the Windrider, the Southwest features pockets made of heavy-duty fabric instead of mesh. They protect the contents from branches, rocks, and other wear and tear, reduce the risk of getting caught in dense vegetation, and also provide better privacy when restocking supplies in towns.
